The VAND Perspective
This work was selected for its exceptional mastery of Meaningful Silence. It successfully balances human-centered functionality with a visual language that reduces noise and enhances clarity.
In an era of digital saturation, this project stands as a quiet rebellion; it does not compete for attention but commands it through precision and restraint. By stripping away the superfluous, the design invites a deeper engagement, proving that intentional absence can be the most profound presence.
The Creative Intent
The concept of HEYU (黑玉, Black Jade) is inspired by Yī (瑿), the rarest and most treasured form of amber, which is ink-black in its natural state but reveals a rich, profound vermilion (朱紅) under light. This duality becomes the core metaphor for our coffee experience: the vermilion-toned coffee 'gem' is meticulously ground, casting a delicate, shimmering luster in the cup, painting an immediate sense of exquisite flavor. We aim for coffee to serve as a cultural vessel within a contemporary visual language. The brand is designed to interpret a tranquil, sophisticated Eastern aesthetic—a way of life that values quiet strength and profound beauty. This aesthetic subtly distills the pure terroir (身土不二) of the coffee's origin. Our visual identity is inspired by the raw, unpolished jade stone. Just as a gemstone's character is revealed through cutting and polishing, the coffee's flavor is refined through grinding and extraction. Different textures and patterns are used to express the unique temperament of each blend. Ultimately, HEYU Coffee embodies a philosophy: enjoying coffee should be effortless and personal. It requires no rigid rules or excessive rhetoric. The purpose of drinking coffee is to delight oneself, not the coffee itself. We sincerely invite you to take a moment and fully enjoy this simple pleasure, encapsulated in a single cup.
