Visual Identity
The VAND Perspective
This work was selected for its exceptional mastery of Meaningful Silence. It successfully balances human-centered functionality with a visual language that reduces noise and enhances clarity.
In an era of digital saturation, this project stands as a quiet rebellion; it does not compete for attention but commands it through precision and restraint. By stripping away the superfluous, the design invites a deeper engagement, proving that intentional absence can be the most profound presence.
The Creative Intent
In Kadena Town on Okinawa Island, a father and son run a repair shop called Kadena Auto. As a new service by the son, they've launched Connect Ties Rent-a-Car. Connect Ties means “building connections.” It's a rental car business rooted in community ties. So, I helped a little with building its visual identity. Keeping “building connections” in mind, I created a design that encompasses the whole, using the initials C and T. By utilizing negative space, I aimed to strengthen the visual elements and create a new form. Additionally, this shape consciously references car windows and other automotive elements. Placing the logotype within the C and T further solidified the concept. There are two logotypes: English and Katakana. These were created from scratch. We aimed for logotypes with a rationality that wouldn't be overshadowed by the symbol mark.
